Loving Wife, Mother, Sister, Grandmother & Great-Grandmother

Fay Goglia, 102, of Woodland Park, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 7th. Born in Hamburg, Germany, Fay was the daughter of the late Albert Martin and Manya (Suzgerzt) Buttkus, and lived in Ireland and England before coming to New Jersey 80 years ago. She was a WWII war bride and Holocaust survivor. She retired as a tailor – dress maker and was the owner of Fay’s Fashions in Nutley for 30 years. She was an avid knitter/crocheter who made infant hats and blankets for the homeless and hospitals for 28 years in Toms River. The beloved wife of the late Joseph Goglia, cherished mother of the late Martin Goglia and the late Theresa Tierney, and dear grandmother of the late Jonathan Vitaletti, Fay is survived by her loving daughter Mary Goglia-Vitaletti, three grandchildren Michelle, Robert, and Daniel, and four great-grandchildren. Our sympathy to Fay’s daughter, our parishioner Mary Goglia-Vitaletti, relatives and friends. May She Rest In Peace.

Rev. Ś+P Marian Tarnowski

Rev. Marian Tarnowski, 81, of Clifton, NJ passed away peacefully with his loving family at his bedside on November 28th.

Born and raised in Chodorow, Poland, Fr. Tarnowski was ordained a Roman Catholic priest in 1966 and came to the United States on February 15, 1985, initially serving in parishes in Riverhead and Hempstead, NY. After twenty years of Roman Catholic priesthood, Fr. Tarnowski felt that serving as a priest with the Slovak National Catholic Church was a truer calling for him and thus became a priest with Most Holy Name of Jesus SNC Cathedral in Passaic where he then served as Pastor for the next thirty-nine years before retiring in 2021.

Fr. Marian loved to play guitar and read books and always enjoyed playing a good game of chess against his son, Bogdan. Fr. Tarnowski was a great husband and a wonderful dad and had the unique ability to be a calming voice in difficult and stressful times….a humble man who tried always to do right and teach life to his family and parishioners.

Rev. Tarnowski was predeceased by his loved and missed parents, Michal and Franciszka (nee Szerenga) Tarnowski as well as by his dear brother, Jan Tarnowski. He is survived by his beloved wife of thirty-nine years, Grazyna (nee Okula) Tarnowski, of Clifton; by his two loving and devoted children, Bogdan and Beata Tarnowski, both also of Clifton; and by his dear sister, Kazmiera Wilk, of Poland..

Visiting Hours will be Sunday from 3-7pm with a Wake Service to be held at 4pm at Holy Cross parish, 220 Browertown Road, Woodland Park, NJ. Funeral Monday at 10:30am at Holy Cross parish with committal to follow at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton. F

Advent Tree Project

Our annual Advent Tree project began on the 1st Sunday of Advent, December 1st. Through our efforts we will benefit the less fortunate of our community. You are asked to take a tag from the tree and write your name in the registry located near the tree. Please affix the copy of the tag you take from the tree to your gift so that the present may be given to the proper individual. All gifts will be due on Sunday, December 15th. Your generosity will be appreciated and rewarded by the Lord who asks us to take care of the needy.
