Celebrate Independence Day

On July 5, 2010 the PNCC will be holding its annual Independence Day celebration at Spojnia Farm, 596 Honesdale Road Waymart, PA.

Holy Mass will be held at 11 A.M. at the Bishop Hodur Retreat and Recreation Center followed by a Picnic 12 Noon to 4 P.M. Polish Food, Traditional American Picnic Fare, Games for All Ages, Parcel Post Auction, Plenty of Family Fun and Dance Music 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. All are welcome!

Reminder: Parish Picnic this weekend

Our annual Parish Picnic will take place this Sunday, June 13th after 11 AM Mass.

Hot dogs, hamburgers, delicious salads and other home made food, coffee, soft drinks and entertainment for the children including moon walk and face painting to name just a few. Parishioners are asked to bring with them a dish of salad or any favorite. All parishioners are welcome to attend and please invite your friends. If you didn’t sign up picnic attendance list in the parish hall – please send an E-mail.

School of Christian Living

There are several students of School of Christian Living who will receive attendance awards this Sunday, June 13th at the end of 11 AM Mass. Their names will be revealed on Sunday!

All students attending SOCL classes will receive certificates. Parents, please come with your children to enjoy the closing ceremony.

On Sunday, September 12, 2010, the children will begin classes after summer recess. Please register your child/children for Fall 2010. The application is available for download here, and in the parish hall. Thank you.

Youth Events for the Summer

School Of Christian Living Awards – Perfect, Good and participation awards will be given by the teachers of SOCL on Sunday June 13, 2010 at the end of 11:00 AM Mass. We ask students of SOCL and their parents to attend 11 AM Mass.

Acolyte Retreat “You are called to serve” – will be held at Bp. Hodur Retreat and Recreation Center in Waymart, PA from Tuesday June 29 (Noon) to Friday, July 2nd, (Noon), 2010. The deadline for registration is June 15, 2010. Please submit registration forms to Fr. Joseph before June 15, 2010. The cost for these three full days is only $65.00; The Adoration Society and Daughters of Holy Cross will assist financially as a reward for altar service the Acolytes do in our parish. The Central Diocese covers the outstanding costs. Parents can also stay with their children. If there is any other altar server who needs registration forms, please ask Fr. Joseph.

KURS Camp – Any child between ages 8 and 18 may attend the encampment from July 2 (3PM) – 10 (Noon), 2010. The Kurs will be held at Bishop Hodur retreat and Recreation Center, Waymart, PA. The cost of Kurs is $190 for P.N.C.C. members and $230 for others. For applications contact Father Joseph. The deadline to send applications is June 12, 2010.

CONVO 2010 – July 26-30, 2010 – The registration forms need to be sent in by June 1, 2010 (mail post mark). Registrations after June 1st will cost an additional $25. See the CONVO 2010 Website for more information and news. Holy Cross Parish will help financially using funds from Youth Fund which was collected over the recent years. The next CONVO preparation meeting will take place on Saturday, June 5th at Saint Stanislaus Cathedral Parish in Scranton, PA. Holy Cross Church will host the meeting on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 11:30 AM. The youth of our parish are encouraged to attend. We also could use help on the 26th for our hosted meeting.

Youth Meetings – Youth meetings will begin in the fall of 2010. The first meeting will take place on Sunday, September 19, 2010 after 11 AM Mass. The youth are invited to join church activities such as our parish picnic on June 13, 2010. From now on they can rent DVDs which provide information and solutions on different topics of young people’s lives. Please contact Fr. Joseph to rent DVDs. Also, volunteers chaperones are needed top assist Fr. Joseph with youth group meetings and activities in our parish. Please let him know if you wish to do this service. Thank you!

Prayers Of Sympathy: for Adele Sincavage

Our Parishioner, Adele Sincavage, passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2010. We express our deepest sympathy to her children, grandchildren, the Sincavage and Vickerilla families, and all relatives and friends. The wake services will be held at Vander May Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Rd. Wayne, NJ 07470 Phone: (973) 696-2900 on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM

Funeral services will be held 9 AM on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 from the funeral home then to Holy Cross PNCC, 220 Browertown Rd., Woodland Park where a 10 AM Funeral Mass will be offered. Interment will be in East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton

Adele Sincavage (nee Dworak) age 88 of Wayne died peacefully on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at the Chilton Memorial Hospital, Pequannock with the comfort of her family by her side.

She was born and raised in DuPont, PA having lived in East Rutherford and Passaic before moving to Wayne forty years ago. Mrs. Sincavage was a prosthetic finisher for the Pfizer Corporation, East Rutherford where she worked for twenty years before retiring in 1987. She was previously member of SS Peter and Paul PNCC, Passaic and recently Holy Cross PNCC, Woodland Park. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Sincavage; loving mother of Kathy Pietrkowsky and her husband Al of Hamburg, Elaine Mamary and her husband Thomas of Kinnelon, Beverly Vickerilla and her husband Hughie of Totowa and Raymond Sincavage and his wife Susan of Lake Hopatcong; loved sister of Julia Sorbal of East Rutherford, Anna Kotula of DuPont, PA and Fred Dworak and his wife Gerri of Wyoming, PA; cherished grandmother of nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.

Holy Mass Schedule for Sunday, June 6th

As you already know, on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at 3:00 PM we will have a special celebration Holy Mass mass of reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation administered by Rt. Rev. Dr. Anthony Mikovsky, Bishop of the Central Diocese. Because of the celebration, there will be only 9:00 AM Holy Mass in the morning. There will be no 11 AM Holy Mass. Please attend either 9:00 AM or 3:00 PM Holy Masses on that Sunday. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Country Western Night

Holy Name will hold a Country Western Night on Saturday, September 25th at the Parish hall. Dinner will be served at 6:30 PM with a buffet style (all you can eat) menu that includes: Chili, Baked Beans, Cornbread, Barbequed Spare Robs, Pulled Pork and Chicken, Corn on the Cob, Potato Salad, Pickles & Olives – Watermelon, Lemonade, Coffee and Desserts. Music will include Boot, Scoot’n Boogie with Ron Kapnick, Square Dance and Calling. Price $254 per person (Children Under 12 FREE). There will as be 50/50 and Basket of Cheer raffles.

Tricky Tray Prep

Our annual Tricky Tray event will be held on Friday, October 22nd.

Our next Tricky Tray preparation meeting will take place Sunday, May 16th at 10:10 AM. We thank Claire Centrella who brought in several Regular, Super and Special trays to the parish hall. Lenny Hrinuk brought in a TV set donated by Sharp Inc. for our Special tray. Parishioners can bring their donations for Tricky Tray to the parish hall any time from now on.

We thank all those who came and shared ideas at the previous Tricky Tray preparation meetings. Please consider joining us and helping make this the best ever! In addition to your regular donated trays please consider donating scratch-offs to be used to make Grand Prizes, please bring them or send them to the church in the envelope marked “Tricky Tray”. We know how everyone loves to win scratch-offs! Also, this year we will be selling packages of raffles tickets in advance at a reduced cost. There will be 3 levels of prizes (regular, super and grand). There will also be a 50/50 being sold before and at the affair.
