This year the annual Adoration Society of New York / New Jersey Seniorate Agape celebration will take place on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at 4:00 P.M. at Heart of Jesus Parish, 290 Avenue E. Bayonne, NJ 07002. Parishioners from NY/NJ Seniorate are invited to attend annual ANS Agape. Please sign your name on the sign-up list located in the parish hall by Sunday, March 14th, 2010. This Agape celebration will commemorate the feast of Passover in the Jewish faith as well as the last feast of Passover celebrated by our Lord with His disciples. Refreshment will be provided.

The Board of Directors of the Melissa A. Centrella Scholarship Foundation invites you to attend their eighth annual “CASINO NIGHT” fundraiser on Saturday, February 20, 2010, 7p.m. at the Landmark II, 26 Rt. 17 South East Rutherford, New Jersey. Tickets: $70.00 (Includes a $40 initial set of chips) All profits will go to the Scholarship Foundation.

There will be Blackjack, Craps, Poker, Roulette & Big Six with professional dealers, open bar, and a buffet dinner. Chips will be converted into raffle tickets for fabulous prizes. Help the Foundation raise money for its 2010 scholarship program! The Foundation has awarded 53 scholarships to-date! National Pancake Day at IHOP

Tuesday, February 23, 2010 IHOP is offering a free short stack of its famous Buttermilk pancakes from 7 AM to 10 AM. In return guests are asked to donate what they would have paid for the pancakes, or more, to support the children’s Miracle Network Hospital. The goal is to raise $5 million in five years. New Year’s Buffet

On Sunday, January 10, 2010 Holy Cross Parish hosted its annual New Year’s Buffet after 11:00 A.M. Holy Mass.

Dozens of people enjoyed variety of food that was prepared by Deacon David and his wife Laurie, Edward Obssuth, Michele Lazor and Mrs. Renata Cyman. The desserts were donated by several ladies who prepared an abundant selection of home made pastries and cakes.

The musical entertainment was provided by DJ. Rosario.

In addition to that, an educational presentation titled “Heart disease prevention” was given by three nurses from St. Joseph’s Hospital, Paterson. They provided free blood pressure test for several volunteers.

Our next social event St. Patrick’s Dinner will take place on Sunday, March 14,, 2010 after 11:00 A.M. Mass. To reserve tickets please call 973-256-4888.

Congratulations to the Sung, Rodriguez, Battista, and Coss families

CONGRATULATIONS – We congratulate Fernando Sung and Paulette Rodriguez on the baptism of their son, Stefano Min Sung Sung that took place on Sunday January 3, 2010 – The Solemnity of the Holy Family. Best wishes to his big brother, Gianfranco Sung, and the Rodriguez and Sung families, as well as their relatives and friends on this special occasion.

IT IS A GIRL – CONGRATULATIONS – We congratulate Juan G. Batista and Jacqueline K. (Coss) Batista on the birth of their precious daughter, Jazlyn Justa Batista on August 25, 2009 at Hackensack Hospital. We are looking forward for the day of her baptism. May the Lord bless the Batista and Coss families with His abundant blessings of love, good health and happiness.

Here comes Santa Claus!

Sunday, December 6th proved to be a festive event with the celebration of St. Nicholas Day at Holy Cross Church – Woodland Park, N.J. Delicious Slavic food, music, dancers, and a visit from “Jolly Old St. Nick” delighted the adults as well as the children.

Sunday school students performed for their audience and were accompanied by Anthony Serrao- talented pianist, organist and vocalist. Students distributed gifts to those who attended. These hand made items were created by the children with the assistance of their teachers – Claire Centrella, Michele Lazor, Penni Lazor, Karen Paulison, and Jamie Santos.

At the closing of the performance and the singing of “Here Comes Santa Claus” the children were surprised by a visit from St. Nicholas in his elegant outfit with staff and lantern. Children were delighted by the traditional gifts that he bestowed upon them.

Diners were entertained by the Christmas music of “D.J. Rosario” and the children enjoyed the dancing and games that he played with them. Eighteen young dancers from St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Garfield enthralled the crowd with Slavic dances in traditional ethnic costumes.
