Holy Cross welcomes a new family and celebrates the baptism of their daughter

On Sunday, August 29, 2010 Holy Cross Parish enjoyed the celebration of a special Holy Mass at 10:30 AM with the Sacrament of Baptism conferred upon Patricia Rose Tiseo, daughter of Jason and Christine (Nieves) Tiseo. The Godparents were Vincent Valerian and Ashley Carter. Jason and Christine, and their two daughters, Isabel and Patricia, are the newest addition to Holy Cross. Best wishes to the Tiseo Family and our prayer that they find Holy Cross to be their second home, a place of spiritual growth and social contentment.

Saturday, September 25th at Holy Cross Church hall. A buffet style (all you can eat) dinner will be served at 6:30 PM with menu items that include: Chili, Baked Beans, Cornbread, Barbequed Spare Ribs, Pulled Pork and Chicken, Corn on the Cob, Potato Salad, Pickles & Olives – Watermelon, Lemonade, Coffee and Desserts. Entertainment by Boot, Scoot’n Boogie with Ron Kapnick, Square Dance and Calling. Price $25 per person (Children Under 12 FREE). Masses for the Homebound and the Sick

Parishioners and community members are welcome to attend Holy Masses for the homebound and the sick every Thursday in July at 7:00 PM. Please note the dates: July 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29, 2010. You can pray for your intention or for someone else.

“Is anyone among you sick? He should summon the presbyters of the church, and they should pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord…” (James 5:14). Father Joseph R. Cyman preaches the sermon based on the Holy Scripture. At the conclusion of the service the anointing with holy oil takes place.

Father’s Day Thank You

We thank several ladies who brought in a variety of delicious dishes of food and desserts that special day. On the sign up list we had: Corn and Blueberry Muffins – Nancy Mupo, Pastries – Nelly Cabrejos; Bagels – Karen Paulison, Donuts – Penni Lazor, Fruits – Susana Kiame, Sausages and Cold Cuts – Renata Cyman, Butter and Cheese – Claire Centrella: Ham – Elaine Rotsaert, Rolls – Beverly Obssuth; Juice – Helen Jarmakrowicz, Baked French Toast and Juices – Angela Bucci, Sandwich Wraps – Cathy Sincavage.

We had a nice number of people attending the Father’s Day Breakfast. Children read prayers of the faithful and read poems dedicated to fathers, stepfathers, godfathers and grandfathers and for all men who serve young people as coaches and teachers, priests and counselors. SOCL Awards

On Sunday, June 13th, the Students from School of Christian Living received good attendance awards: Nayef Kiame, Ned Kiame, Neil Kiame, Michael Cyman, Natalie Cyman, Amber Harth, Brianna Harth, Alissa Paulison, Chris Paulison, Nicholas Desch, Matt Montero, Gabriella Rotsaert, Holly Trinka, Armani Jimenez, and Aubrey Santos. The students received pizza 46 gift cards or Carvel ice cream gift cards.

We thank teachers: Michele Lazor, Karen Paulison, Claire Centrella, Jamie Santos, Karen Peano, and Carol and Annie Montero (substitutes) who served in 2009-2010 school year. Thank you teachers for job great done!

We wish children and teachers enjoyable summer.

Although there is no Sunday School in summer, please take advantage of summer Mass schedule from July 4th to Sept 5th 2010 celebrated at 9 AM and 10:30 AM, to attend the liturgy of the Mass. We need to keep holy the Sabbath Day – Sunday.

On Sunday September 12, 2010 the children will begin SOCL classes after summer. Please register your child/children for fall 2010. Applications are available in the parish hall. Thank you.

We thank all those who shared their time, talent and treasure to make our annual parish picnic last Sunday, June 13th an enjoyable and successful event.

We thank Natalie Lazar for beautifully painting several faces of our kids. We thank Vincenzo Gravino for arrangement and delivery into our premises a Giant 3 in 1 Sport Center. It brought lots of joy to our kids. And of course, Piñata was a great part of our celebration.

We are grateful to Dominick Bucci, Parish Committee Chairman who repaired and connected gas BBQ. With the help of Edward Obssuth, Hughie Vickerilla, Bob Sleece and Bryan Bucci served delicious food. Several people brought delicious salads and other home made food and desserts. We thank each and everyone. We thank those who additionally helped to clean up the parish hall. We thank those parishioners who invited their friends.

Reminder: Parish Picnic this weekend

Our annual Parish Picnic will take place this Sunday, June 13th after 11 AM Mass.

Hot dogs, hamburgers, delicious salads and other home made food, coffee, soft drinks and entertainment for the children including moon walk and face painting to name just a few. Parishioners are asked to bring with them a dish of salad or any favorite. All parishioners are welcome to attend and please invite your friends. If you didn’t sign up picnic attendance list in the parish hall – please send an E-mail.
