National Night Out

On Tuesday August 3rd, the Holy Cross Parish participated in Woodland Park’s National Night Out (NNO). We had an eventful evening meeting and greeting our local neighbors as well as our parishioners. Father Joseph, Natalie Cyman, and Paul Murphy handed out free bottles of water, the Tricky Tray flyers, sold 50/50 tickets and offered our Welcome flyers for our local residents.

NNO – is a national event since 1984 a community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships AGAINST DRUG, CRIME AND ALCOHOL ABUSE.  National Night Out helps create crime prevention awareness in the neighborhood through a multitude of events, such as block parties, cookouts, parades, contests, youth events and seminars.

God Bless Catalina Arelis

Congratulations to  Hugo and Griselle Carvajal, proud parents of Catalina Arelis who was baptised on Sunday July 18th. She became the youngest parishioner of Holy Cross Church. Congratulations to godparents, relatives and friends.

The Sacrament of Baptism is the foundation of our Christian faith, is a gateway to new life in the Spirit, and the door that gives access to other sacraments. Through this sacrament we are regenerated and incorporated into Christ’s body – His Church. As God made the covenant with his people so through Baptism, Jesus makes a new and everlasting covenant with his followers. As Jesus won new life for us on the cross, with the symbol of the cross, Catalina was marked to receive the new life in the Lord. As the waters of the Red Sea led the people of Israel to freedom so the water of Baptism gave new life and lead to Salvation. Parents, godparents and all members of our parish are asked to help this child to grow in Christian faith.

Free Town Picnic Held June 27th

To fulfill our parish outreach program, as suggested by the Central Diocese, we held a Free Town Picnic inviting community members, parishioners and friends. The Picnic was held on Sunday, June 27th from 12 to 4pm. We had perfect weather which allowed many children to take advantage of the 16 feet water slide from Party Time Rentals, Woodland Park. Children and adults were also entertained by magician, “Simply Magical.” In the parish hall children and adults enjoyed face painting done by our parishioner, Natalie Lazar. We thank her for sharing her time and talent.

We had varieties of homemade ethnic foods, hot and cold and desserts donated by several parishioners. We truly appreciate sharing their culinary talents and their generosity. We thank parishioners who donated paper products. The parish provided hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn, watermelon, green salad, soft drinks and prizes for the children.  We thank Dominick Bucci, David Obssuth, Edward Obssuth and the help of Andy Obssuth for preparing hamburgers and hot dogs in the kitchen and outdoor grill.  We thank the Galindo Family, Dominick Bucci, George O’Brien, Natalie Cyman for setting up the hall and outdoor tents. We thank all those who supported our parish with free will donations.  Finally we thank the serving and clean-up crew Angela Gulla, Fran Cuccinello, Deby Golaszewski, Jennifer Galindo, Beverly Obssuth, and Joan Kaynak. Special thank you to Pastor Cho and parishioners of Methodist Korean Church for extra parking in their church lot. We thank anyone who helped in any way, shape or form to make the picnic very successful for the enjoyment of dozens of parishioners, community members and friends.
