Holy Cross welcomes a new family and celebrates the baptism of their daughter

On Sunday, August 29, 2010 Holy Cross Parish enjoyed the celebration of a special Holy Mass at 10:30 AM with the Sacrament of Baptism conferred upon Patricia Rose Tiseo, daughter of Jason and Christine (Nieves) Tiseo. The Godparents were Vincent Valerian and Ashley Carter. Jason and Christine, and their two daughters, Isabel and Patricia, are the newest addition to Holy Cross. Best wishes to the Tiseo Family and our prayer that they find Holy Cross to be their second home, a place of spiritual growth and social contentment.

Acolyte Retreat

From Tuesday, June 29th to Friday, July 2nd the Central Diocese Acolyte Retreat took place at the Bishop Hodur Retreat and Recreation Center in Waymart, PA. Almost forty participants came from several parishes of our diocese including five altar servers from our parish: Nayef, Ned, Neil Kiame, Michael and Natalie Cyman.

All participants had time to pray during Mass, before meals and before going to sleep. They enjoyed playing different games indoors and outside. They did swim in the pool with the presence of the life guard. Yes, the water was warm which helped adults to join as well. The pool was used every day. Participants hiked to the shore of Keen Lake (see the picture below). They listened to interesting presentations at the retreat center. The weather was excellent except for one chilly night. The bonfire on Thursday made all of us become one friendly family.

Is anyone among you sick? He should summon the presbyters of the church, and they should pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord…” (James 5:14). Father Joseph R. Cyman preaches the sermon based on the Holy Scripture. At the conclusion of the service the anointing with holy oil takes place.

Confirmation

It was a great experience to witness our Confirmation celebration last Sunday, June 6th. The following parishioners received the Sacrament of Confirmation: Brianna Harth, Michael Lazor, Antonio Lazar, Matthew Montero, Alissa Paulison, Cassie Loyas, Juan and Jacqueline Batista, Krista Campbell, and Cristian Reyes, administered by Rt. Rev. Dr. Anthony Mikovsky, Bishop of the Central Diocese.

It was uplifting to see ten confirmands, their families and friends as well as our parishioners that day. I hope you enjoyed this grace filled ceremony as I did.

I thank Deacon David and all those who in any shape or form helped me to make this event meaningful and enjoyable.
