Free Town Picnic Held June 27th

To fulfill our parish outreach program, as suggested by the Central Diocese, we held a Free Town Picnic inviting community members, parishioners and friends. The Picnic was held on Sunday, June 27th from 12 to 4pm. We had perfect weather which allowed many children to take advantage of the 16 feet water slide from Party Time Rentals, Woodland Park. Children and adults were also entertained by magician, “Simply Magical.” In the parish hall children and adults enjoyed face painting done by our parishioner, Natalie Lazar. We thank her for sharing her time and talent.

We had varieties of homemade ethnic foods, hot and cold and desserts donated by several parishioners. We truly appreciate sharing their culinary talents and their generosity. We thank parishioners who donated paper products. The parish provided hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn, watermelon, green salad, soft drinks and prizes for the children.  We thank Dominick Bucci, David Obssuth, Edward Obssuth and the help of Andy Obssuth for preparing hamburgers and hot dogs in the kitchen and outdoor grill.  We thank the Galindo Family, Dominick Bucci, George O’Brien, Natalie Cyman for setting up the hall and outdoor tents. We thank all those who supported our parish with free will donations.  Finally we thank the serving and clean-up crew Angela Gulla, Fran Cuccinello, Deby Golaszewski, Jennifer Galindo, Beverly Obssuth, and Joan Kaynak. Special thank you to Pastor Cho and parishioners of Methodist Korean Church for extra parking in their church lot. We thank anyone who helped in any way, shape or form to make the picnic very successful for the enjoyment of dozens of parishioners, community members and friends.

God Bless Our First Communicants

On Sunday, May 16th, the Seventh Sunday of Easter, at 11 am Holy Mass we witnessed the celebration of First Holy Communion administered to five children and three adults: Jazmin Bradbury, Viviana Galindo, Amber and Parker Herrick, Veronica Murphy, David Rodriguez, Chirag and Aarti Taylor.  We congratulate all of them and their families on their special day.

The new recipients of the Holy Eucharist are welcomed to participate in the life of the parish by being altar servers, lectors reading the Word of God, and being part of various parish committees.

The Holy Eucharist is Jesus Christ who is really present under the forms of bread and wine. In the Eucharist, Jesus Christ gives us Himself as a food for our souls. The bread and wine becomes the Body and Blood of our Lord during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass when the priest says words of consecration which Jesus used during the Last Supper: This is My Body… This is My Blood… (Catechism of the PNCC)

As God made the covenant with his people so through Baptism, Jesus makes a new and everlasting covenant with his followers. As Jesus won new life for us on the cross, the Taylor family was marked to receive the new life in the Lord. As the waters of the Red Sea led the people of Israel to freedom so the water of Baptism gave them new life which leads to salvation.
