The Parish parking lot was repaired in the period of three weeks (end of April – mid of May 2016) with necessary postponements due to the rain. The work of repaving, crack filling with hot tar rubberized crack filler, seal coating with commercial asphalt latex sealer and re-striping was done by Doctor Driveway/Mike (commercial and residential). We congratulate the following students who received the Holy Eucharist for the first time on Sunday May 15, 2016 at 11 am Mass: Rian Babaran, Rash Babaran, Jaydin Correa, Jeremiah Espinal, Jayden Estacio, Athena Galindo,Nicholas Gizzi, Gabriel Iudici Flax, Aida Llanos, Kaylanie Noriega, Kianni Noriega, Julia Palman, Joshua Rivera, Valerie Vance and Aedan Vance. We thank their parents for their involvement in the preparation for First Holy Communion and for their donation of beautiful sanctuary flowers and their generosity toward the church. We thank the Adoration Society who prepared fruit punch and fruit salad for the children. It was a great time to have classes with such talented students. They read the prayers of the faithful, brought the offertory gifts of bread, wine, water and certificates. Some of the children are serving as altar servers on Sunday at the Mass. Other students are preparing also for the Sacrament of Confirmation with the other candidates. It was a great joy for the parish and to me to witness this event as we celebrate 90 years of service for the Community of Woodland Park and beyond. God bless you all.
The Holy Eucharist is Jesus Christ who is really present under the forms of bread and wine. In the Eucharist, Jesus Christ gives us Himself as a food for our souls. The bread and wine becomes the Body and Blood of our Lord during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass when the priest says words of consecration which Jesus used during the Last Supper: This is My Body. This is My Blood. (Catechism of the PNCC).
