Honoring Memorial Day and Doing Good

On Memorial Day, May 28th four dozen of planted flowers, prepared by the Adoration Society of our parish, were delivered to the residents living at St. Joseph Home for the Elderly in Totowa, NJ.

Fr. Joseph Cyman, pastor along with Fran Cuccinello, a member of the Adoration Society and executive member of Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion in Woodland Park, together with youth from the parish, Natalie Cyman and Brianna Correa, were glad to deliver the plants. The Mother Superior, Sister Mary Thomas, with appreciation, accepted the donation on behalf of Little Sisters of the Poor. She said that residents would be happy to have these plants in their rooms as a token of our love and gratitude. The flowers will be given especially to the Veterans living there on their special Memorial Day as we remember and honor their brothers and sisters who sacrificed their lives for the freedom in our country.

2017 Annual Christmas Dinner

On Sunday, December 10th, dozens of parishioners attended our annual Christmas Dinner. The children and all attendees enjoyed a Christmas carol sing-a-long. We thank all those who came for this event, especially parents for bringing their children. We had fun, shared a great menu which was prepared by Deacon David and his helpers. We thank Neil Estanislao, our organist for the music arrangement and accompaniment. Because the children of Holy Cross are very special, Santa Claus came and gave them goodies asking them to listen and help their parents and behave well. Merry Christmas to all!

First Holy Communion

Our parish joyfully witnessed the celebration of First Holy Communion on Sunday May 21st. We congratulate Diego, Justin, Jazlyn, Arianna, Jhyanna and two adults Kandri and Stefanie who received Holy Eucharist for the first time. We thank Mary Vitaletti for helping Fr. Joseph in providing First Holy Communion classes for children. During the Holy Mass, the children and two adults participated in the liturgy be reading the Prayers of the Faithful and bringing to the altar the offertory gifts of bread and wine. We thank parents for their help and support as well as for sponsoring beautiful flowers for this special occasion. We thank our organist, lector, altar servers, greeters, and ushers who served at the Holy Mass and everyone who attended the liturgy last Sunday. In the Holy Eucharist, Jesus Christ is really present under the forms of bread and wine. He gives us himself as a food for our souls. The bread and wine becomes the Body and Blood of our Lord during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass when the priest or bishop says the words of consecration which Jesus used during the Last Supper: This is My Body… This is My Blood.
